A dental bridge is a fixed set of teeth that replaces lost teeth or a bridge that no longer fits your mouth.

When is a bridge recommended?

• If you are missing no more than 3 teeth in a row.
• When you are not a suitable candidate for implants. This is usually due to poor dental health or low jaw bone density.
• If your current bridge has become loose or damaged.
• If you would like to improve the appearance of your smile.
• If you would like to enjoy a wider variety of foods.

Step 1) Planning and treatment

We use digital planning technology to acquire the information we need about the health of your mouth and your dental anatomy.

Step 2) Preparing your mouth

We will remove failing teeth that cannot be saved with restorative treatment such as a root canal. Before your bridge can be affixed, we will make sure your mouth is in a healthy condition. Our dental technician can then begin creating a bridge. Meanwhile, we will give you a temporary bridge to wear. This means you won’t have to live with missing teeth while you wait for your permanent bridge to be manufactured.

Step 3) Fitting your bridge

We will fit your bridge and make any minor adjustments.

Your bridge is custom-made for your mouth. We will match the shade of your bridge to suit the aesthetic of your existing teeth. Once fitted, your bridge will resemble a real set of teeth and feel stable as you chew, laugh, smile and speak.

FAQs

What’s the difference between a bridge and a denture?

Whilst dentures are removable, a bridge is fixed permanently in place. A dental bridge is only an option for patients with healthy teeth, to which the bridge will be affixed.

Can bridges be secured with implants?

Yes. We highly recommend having a bridge stabilised in place with dental implants. This will give you an enhanced ability to chew your food and speak with clarity.

Will a bridge improve my oral health?

Replacing missing teeth is an incredibly worthwhile undertaking. Once your custom-made bridge has been fitted, your gums will be better protected and it will help to prevent other teeth from moving out of position in your mouth. As well as replacing lost teeth, a bridge also provides the aesthetic benefit of maintaining your face shape. In patients with lost teeth, the cheek area can appear hollow but once in place, a bridge will provide volume to this area, giving you a healthier and younger-looking appearance.
