When are fixed braces recommended?

How we can help

Step 1) Preparation

Our digital scanner will take images of your teeth, which the Inman lab can then use to create your plastic aligners. Your fixed braces will be custom-made by our dental technician.

Step 2) Fitting

Once your braces have been created, we can fit the brace and brace components to your teeth.

Step 3) Check-ups

We will ask that you come in to have your progress checked over every 6 weeks and to have your brace tightened, which ensures your teeth continue to move into the correct pre-determined positions.

Step 4) Your retainer

Once your bespoke fixed braces have worked their magic on your smile, we will provide you with a retainer to wear, which will stop your teeth from reverting to their original position.

FAQs

Invisalign® or fixed braces – which do I choose?

If we find your case is suited to either fixed braces or Invisalign®, you may wish to consider lifestyle factors, such as if you would like to eat as normal during your treatment. Fixed braces will require you to make changes to your diet and brushing routine, whilst Invisalign® can be removed to carry out these everyday functions normally.

We also recommend that patients who feel they might forget to wear their Invisalign® aligners for the assigned times each day consider fixed braces.

What are modern fixed braces like?

From a design point of view, fixed braces have changed a lot over the years. They’re both lighter and smaller, which equates to better levels of comfort for patients. In terms of the way they move your teeth, fixed brace processes remain quite unchanged. They move your teeth in the same predictable and successful way they did several decades ago.

How long will my treatment take?

The treatment time with a fixed brace to correct moderate to severe issues can range between 1 – 3 years. The type of issues fixed braces address include:
