Composite bonding is a simple cosmetic dental treatment that suits patients looking for a natural-looking outcome, in just a single appointment.

When is composite bonding recommended?

  • When you have a crack or chip in your tooth.
  • To address superficial problems with your teeth.
  • If you would like a minimally-invasive cosmetic procedure to repair your tooth.
  • To close small gaps in your teeth and give your smile a more even and symmetrical appearance.

How we can help

Step 1) Planning your treatment

Your dentist will look closely at the characteristic of your neighbouring teeth so that the resins can be applied in a way that looks natural and compatible with your smile.

Step 2) Preparing your tooth

Your tooth surface is roughened and primers are applied, to which the composite resin layers can adhere.

Step 3) Polishing off

The resins are carefully shaped and your tooth is cured with ultraviolet light after each layer is applied.

FAQs

Composite bonding vs veneers – which is right for me?

If you’re looking for a swift and straightforward way of repairing flaws with individual teeth, the composite bonding process might be the best option for you. Veneers are the more durable counterpart of composite bonding, but they do require some of your natural tooth structure to be removed, for the veneer to be placed over the front surface.

On the other hand, composite bonding involves having resins applied directly to a tooth that’s misshapen, gapped or stained.

During your appointment, we will give you a more comprehensive comparison between these two treatments, should you wish to go away and think about your options.

How long will the results last?

A tooth that has been treated with composite bonding has the potential to last for an average of 5 – 7 years. The time that the composite resins remain firmly bonded to your tooth will depend on how well you look after your teeth after treatment.

How is such an authentic result achieved?

Composite resin strongly resembles tooth enamel when it is carefully layered and applied to a tooth. It’s known for capturing the distinctive translucent finish that natural teeth have.
